General

What is Yasna?

Yasna is an all-in-one platform for AI-moderated in-depth interviews, conducted via one-on-one text chats with real people, followed by summarization and analysis of the results (findings, verbatim, numbers, subgroups, etc.).

Who should use Yasna, and why?

Yasna is built for professional market researchers, UX-researchers, and HR teams who need fast, scalable, and globally accessible in-depth insights. It’s ideal when in-person interviews aren’t feasible or when you need to validate qualitative insights at scale.

What are typical use cases for Yasna?

Yasna is used across various fields – including market, UX, and HR research.
In market research, typical use cases fall into two main categories:
— Ideation: Category usage & perception, brand audit, lifestyle & values, etc.
— Refinement testing: Pack, ad, concept, communication testing, and more.

Yasna can be used as a standalone method or combined with classic Qual or Quant. For example:
— Pre-quant: to adjust questionnaires
— Post-quant: to uncover the“why”, gather details and rich verbatims
— After F2F Qual: to explore more markets or deepen unclear insights
— After a product/service test: to gather quick, spontaneous feedback

What are the key benefits of Yasna?

— Fast & at scale: Hundreds of in-depth interviews completed and analyzed within days.
— Cost-efficient: Yasna automates moderation, transcription, and analysis – saving time and budget.
— Effortless global reach: 45+ languages, built-in recruitment in 60+ markets, instant translation, seamless multilingual reporting.
— Unbiased moderation: Yasna maintains full objectivity, with no previous interview influencing the next. People feel safe chatting with Yasna, openly discussing even sensitive topics.

What makes Yasna different from other tools?

— Built by researchers, for researchers: Developed with a deep understanding of research needs – not just by IT developers.
— Human-like moderation quality: Yasna adapts to different audiences (B2B & B2C) with deep contextual probing, and stays focused on the research goal.
— Сompetitive pricing: Starting from €300 per 100 interviews.
— Qual-quant report: Delivers findings, quotes, crosstabs, and subgroup analysis.

How does Yasna work (step-by-step)?

Yasna interviews respondents via one-on-one text chat with optional voice replies. Here's the workflow:
1. AI-assisted setup and guide creation: Define goals, target audience, and draft key questions. Upload stimuli (text, images, videos, etc.) if needed.
2. Built-in recruitment: Use Yasna’s built-in panel or share the interview link with your own channels. AI screening filters for the right respondents.
3. Automated interviewing: Yasna runs hundreds of interviews daily in 45+ languages. Respondents reply in text or voice; Yasna probes for clarification. Transcripts and summaries appear in real time.
4. Instant reporting: After completion, get a customizable AI-generated report with quotes, qualitative findings, tables, and subgroup analysis.

Can I try it out myself?

Yes, absolutely! You can test the respondent's experience by chatting with Yasna here.
Or, you can create a project, write a few of your own questions, and use a test link to see how Yasna turns them into a natural, conversational flow.

Methodology

Is it Quant or Qual?

AI-moderated IDIs combine the best of both worlds: qualitative depth and quantitative scale.
You get the depth and nuance of qualitative interviews, with the ability to validate findings across larger samples – just like in quant.

Why large samples?

Yasna allows for deep qualitative understanding and statistical validation. Larger samples let you:
  • Capture a wide range of opinions without missing any important information
  • Prioritize and validate insights
  • Compare segments (e.g., by age, gender, market)
  • Build confident, data-backed conclusions

Does Yasna replace traditional qual and quant methods?

Yasna is not meant to replace traditional qual or quant methods – each has its own strengths and ideal use cases. For example, creative workshops benefit from group dynamics and non-verbal cues, while a quick quant test may be the best choice when you simply need to pick a winning concept with no time to iterate.

That said, AI-moderated IDIs can solve most research tasks by combining the depth of qual with the scale of quant. It works especially well when classical methods are too slow, expensive, or hard to conduct across markets.

Project Setup

How do I set up a project with Yasna?

You define your research goal and target audience, write an interview guide (or use a template). You can also upload materials for testing – such as text, images, videos, mockups, or landing pages. Set up a screener if needed, then choose your recruitment method: either through Yasna’s built-in panel or your own source. Yasna handles the rest – moderation, data collection, and analysis. More details: Project setup.

How do I write a good guide for Yasna?

Think of it as briefing a human moderator: phrase your questions naturally, provide clear instructions, and make sure each topic ties back to a specific research objective. Keep it focused – aim for 15–20 minutes max. You can also start with our ready-made templates and tailor them to your needs. More tips: Mastering the interview guide.

Can Yasna ask closed-ended questions?

Yes. You can add single- or multiple-choice questions to your guide. Options can be randomized, pinned, or marked as exclusive. You can also add probing questions based on selected answers. Results are automatically visualized in tables in the final report. More details here.

Does Yasna really moderate like a human?

Yes – Yasna uses your guide as a compass, not a script. She adapts to responses, probes for depth, remembers context across the conversation, and is able to navigate different topics and audiences flexibly like a skilled moderator.
That said, Yasna is not a full substitute for an experienced human moderator who reads between the lines, builds hypotheses on the fly, and adjusts direction intuitively. But for many tasks, Yasna delivers the depth and nuance researchers need – fast and at scale.

Can Yasna interact with B2B audiences?

Yes – Yasna is trained to moderate conversations with a wide range of audiences, including B2B. She handles both general consumers and more specialized targets like doctors or IT professionals. Yasna brings contextual awareness and a professional tone, making it suitable for expert-level discussions.
You can also specify that the target audience is B2B during setup – Yasna will take this into account and adapt its communication accordingly.

How can I check if Yasna moderates well?

There are several ways to explore and evaluate Yasna’s moderation quality:
  1. 1. Explore sample cases: Visit the Yasna Demo Space
  2. to browse public cases and see how Yasna moderates across different topics and audiences (login required).
  3. 2. Preview and test your guide before launch – test interviews are free and won’t be included in the final analysis.
  4. 3. Run a pilot launch: Start with a few real interviews, review the transcripts, adjust the guide if needed, and continue with full launch when you’re confident in the setup.
  5. 4. Try it yourself: Want to experience it from the respondent’s side? Chat with Yasna here.

Can I customize the look of the AI agent?

Yes – you can choose your agent’s appearance, name, and tone of voice to match your target audience. You can even upload your own avatar if you wish. White label chat is also supported if you’d like to remove Yasna branding. More details: AI agent customization.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

You pay for what you use – based on the number of interviews conducted. Each interview costs a certain number of credits, depending on its length and the IR (incidence rate) of your target audience.
You can either:
  • Purchase credit packs ad hoc, or
  • Choose a monthly PRO subscription for €300 – it includes 1,000 credits and power features like voice responses, a customized avatar, a built-in screener, and more. You can always top it up with additional credit packs if needed.
We also offer professional services to support your project if needed – including interview guide review, project management, report preparation, and more. Reach out to us for more details.
See Pricing Plans here.

What is a credit? How do I know how many credits I need for the project?

One credit equals one data point extracted from one respondent, regardless of how many probing questions are needed to get it.

For example
— “How did you like our delivery? Why?”
= 2 data points = 2 credits per interview.

— “How do you like this idea?
Likes? (probe to get at least 3)
Dislikes?” (probe to get at least 3)
= 3 data points = 3 credits per interview.

If you recruit respondents through Yasna’s built-in panel, recruitment is also charged in credits, based on how easy or hard it is to reach your target group.

Example project:
A study with 50 respondents × 10-question guide = ~1,000 credits
Includes interviews + full AI-powered analysis and reporting.

What is a subscription, and do I need one?

The PRO subscription includes:
  • 1,000 credits/month
  • Voice responses
  • Built-in screener
  • White-label chat
  • Customized avatar
  • Priority support, and more
If you do regular research, it’s more cost-effective. But subscription is optional – you can always run ad hoc projects with one-time credit packs. More details here: Pricing Plans.

I don’t want a subscription – can I run an ad hoc project?

Yes! You can use Yasna without a subscription. Just buy a credit pack that fits your project size.
Let us know your needs by reaching out to us at ask@yasna.ai – we’ll help you estimate the right number of credits.
However, only the PRO subscription gives you access to all advanced features – such as customized avatar, voice responses, built-in screener, white label, and more.

Are there any special offers or discounts?

We offer discounts for large credit purchases. Reach out to us at ask@yasna.ai – we’ll be happy to find the best pricing model for your needs.
You can also start with a free 2-week trial to explore the platform. When you sign up, you’ll get full access to all Pro features for 14 days – no credit card needed. After the trial, your account will automatically switch to the Free plan (see detailed plan descriptions here: Pricing Plans).

Recruitment

How can I recruit respondents to chat with Yasna?

You can recruit participants via Yasna’s built-in panel, which covers 60+ countries, or use your own sources – just generate a link on the platform and share it through your own channels. See more about recruitment here.

Is recruiting for AI-moderated in-depth interviews costly?

Not at all – costs are closer to quant than qual. Incentives are typically just slightly higher than for surveys, mainly due to the longer interview length (15-20 minutes). It’s far more affordable than traditional qualitative research, especially when scaled.

What if a respondent is a bot, gives poor answers, or behaves inappropriately?

Yasna runs real-time quality checks to filter out bots by analyzing conversational patterns. She also identifies disengaged answers and handles inappropriate behavior (like rudeness or flirting) professionally – setting boundaries or exiting the conversation if needed.
All flagged interviews are excluded from your dataset, and you only pay for valid, high-quality responses.

AI interviewing

What is the interview format: text or voice, one-on-one or group?

Interviews are conducted as one-on-one chat conversations in a friendly, natural tone – like messaging with a real person. Yasna types all the questions, while respondents can reply via text or voice (voice is optional). They can participate at their own pace and from any device, making the experience smooth and comfortable. You can try it yourself here: Chat with Yasna.
Yasna does not support focus groups – she interacts with one respondent at a time.

Why doesn’t Yasna speak, only type?

We’ve chosen this format intentionally: even though AI-generated voices can sound quite realistic, they still often feel slightly synthetic or not fully natural. This can remind respondents they’re talking to a bot and disrupt the flow of the conversation. Text, on the other hand, feels more neutral and human – people are used to mixed modes in chat (some write, others send voice messages). This helps respondents stay engaged, open up, and provide more detailed responses.

Will Yasna ever speak? Maybe – if and when synthetic voices become truly indistinguishable from natural human speech, we might explore adding that option. But for now, we prioritize the quality and authenticity of the interaction over voice features.

What about uploading images or videos?

You can embed images, videos, or text as stimuli in your guide – Yasna will show them to respondents during the conversation and ask follow-up questions. Respondents can view the materials directly in the chat and click to enlarge. More details: Stimuli.
Support for respondent media uploads (e.g., photos or videos) is planned for Autumn 2025.

Do respondents enjoy interacting with Yasna?

Yes! Respondents rate their experience highly, with an average satisfaction score of 4.3 out of 5 (86% satisfaction). They often describe Yasna as smooth, intuitive, and even fun – much more engaging than traditional surveys. Many say it feels like a human interaction but without any bias.
This lack of judgment and bias helps respondents feel especially comfortable discussing sensitive topics like health, finances, or relationships.

How long should a Yasna interview be?

We recommend keeping Yasna interviews under 15–20 minutes. This format ensures participants stay focused and engaged – which leads to better data. For broader topics, it’s more effective to split them into smaller, focused tasks: one guide per objective. This way, you get deeper insights, faster results, and maintain high respondent quality throughout.

Can Yasna generate and ask follow-up questions?

Yes, Yasna is trained to ask follow-up questions like a skilled human moderator. She adapts to each respondent’s answers and keeps probing until she gets meaningful, complete responses. These follow-ups aren’t scripted – Yasna generates them on the fly based on what the respondent says.
At the same time, you can guide her: in your interview guide, you can add specific instructions (including IF conditions) to steer the probing in the direction that matters most for your project.

Analysis

How does Yasna’s AI analysis work?

Once all interviews are collected, the platform automatically processes and analyzes the data. You’ll receive a report with pre-structured blocks based on your guide. You can then customize and expand the report by adjusting prompts, adding new blocks with findings, quotes, tables, and subgroup analysis. The output is easy to translate, so you can quickly analyze and share results with international teams.
Read more about it here: Reporting.

Can I trust Yasna’s analysis? Does she “hallucinate”?

Yasna’s insights are grounded in actual respondent answers – not made up. Every insight can be traced back to the original quotes. Yasna only uses the data from your specific project (no external sources), ensuring relevance and accuracy.

How does Yasna generate and calculate numbers?

Yasna quantifies unstructured text data by coding and clustering themes across all interviews. You can add Table blocks to see numbers by topic and subgroups – with statistical significance testing where applicable.
Closed-ended questions (like scales or single/multiple choice) are also available in Yasna guides and are automatically analyzed and visualized in the report as tables.

How can I export or share the data and report?

You can export raw data as Excel or JSON files. Transcripts and their summaries can be downloaded as PDF files. The full report can also be exported as a PDF.
To share the project, simply generate a read-only link – allowing colleagues or clients to view the full project (guide, transcripts, and report) without logging in. See more about export and sharing here.

Data Protection

Is using Yasna secure, and how is the data stored and managed?

We take reasonable measures to protect personal data and client’s data (such as stimuli or questionnaires) from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. All personal and client’s information you provide to us while using Yasna is encrypted and stored on our secure servers behind firewalls. We use Microsoft Azure hosting services located in North Europe (Ireland).
Data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion at any time.

Does Yasna train her AI on our project data?

No. Your project data is never used to train Yasna’s AI. All processing is done within your project context only. We do not reuse, repurpose, or share your data in any form.
Read more about Data Privacy

Do you collect any personal data from respondents?

By default, Yasna does not collect any personal data – no full names, emails, or other personal identifiers. Respondents stay anonymous.
If you need to collect such data (e.g., for incentives or follow-up interviews), you can add a custom question to your guide.
We do not use personal data for any purposes beyond your project and never share it with third parties.

What if I need respondents to sign an NDA?

While Yasna doesn’t support digital NDA signatures within the platform, you can still include an NDA statement in the greeting message. In this case, continuing the interview will count as consent to the NDA.
Alternatively, you can handle NDA agreements outside of Yasna – for example, during panel recruitment or in your screener flow (if you're using an external recruitment source).
